Median Word Count
The median book in the archive is about 73,419 words long. That translates to roughly 320 minutes of reading at an average pace.
Choose a book, record where you are, and set a daily goal. Your progress is stored in localStorage in this browser; it is not uploaded to a user account.
If the EPUB has no fixed print pagination, the tool starts with an estimated page count and lets you replace it with the page total shown by your own reader.

The Reading Time Notes page helps you plan your reading by providing estimates for each book's duration. These estimates are derived from the word count and assume a typical reading speed of about 230 words per minute. They are meant as a guide, not a promise, since individual reading rates vary.
You can also see how the archive's titles are distributed across different lengths and reading time categories. This overview can help you decide whether you are in the mood for a quick read or a longer immersion.
The median book in the archive is about 73,419 words long. That translates to roughly 320 minutes of reading at an average pace.
The archive holds 8 short books, 21 medium ones, 33 long ones, and 27 epics. This variety means you can find anything from a brief afternoon read to a multi-day commitment.
Books are grouped into quick (6), steady (19), immersive (45), and marathon (19) reading experiences. Use these labels to match a book to your available time.
The Reading Tracker is a simple tool for a simple goal: to know how much of a book you have read and how much remains. It records progress in pages, not minutes or sections. You set a current page, a total page count, and a daily page goal, and the tracker estimates when you will finish. It does not track time spent reading or sections completed — just pages.
The default daily goal is 20 pages, but you can change it. The tracker stores your history in your browser, so you can come back to it without an account. If your edition has a different page count than the estimate, you can adjust the total to match what you see in your book or app.
For books in the catalog, the tracker provides an initial page estimate based on the word count divided by 250 words per page. For example, Holly: The Romance of a Southern Girl — Context and Discussion has 48,913 words, so the estimate is 196 pages (48,913 / 250 = 195.65, rounded up). This is a starting point. If your edition of Holly has 220 pages, you would enter 220 as the total. The tracker uses your number for all calculations.
Why 250 words per page? It is a common average for a standard paperback page. But actual pages vary with font size, margins, and trim size. The tracker lets you override the estimate precisely because your edition may differ. The important thing is to use a consistent total — the one that matches the book you are holding.
Once you have a total page count and a current page, the tracker estimates the remaining time in minutes using the proportional formula: estimated minutes times remaining pages divided by total pages. For Holly, if the estimated minutes are 213 and you have read 50 of 196 pages, the remaining time would be 213 × (146/196) ≈ 159 minutes. This is a rough guide, not a promise — your actual reading speed will vary.
The finish date is calculated by dividing the remaining pages by your daily page goal and rounding up. If you have 146 pages left and a goal of 20 pages per day, that is 7.3 days, rounded up to 8 days. The tracker shows this as an estimated finish date. You can adjust your daily goal to see how it changes the date — a higher goal means fewer days, but it also means a larger daily commitment.
Consider Holly: The Romance of a Southern Girl — Context and Discussion. It has 18 text sections, so you might want to read one section per day. That is roughly 11 pages per section (196 pages / 18 sections). If you set a daily goal of 11 pages, the tracker would estimate about 18 days to finish. If you prefer to read 20 pages a day, you would finish in about 10 days. The tracker helps you see the trade-off between daily effort and overall duration.
The tracker is not a motivational tool; it is a planning tool. It tells you where you stand and what remains. For a longer book, like The Younger Sister: A Novel, Volumes 1-3 — Inside the Classic (201,361 words, estimated 806 pages), a 20-page daily goal would mean 41 days. That is a significant commitment, and the tracker makes it visible. You can then decide whether to tackle it now or save it for a period with more reading time.
